DRYPOINTS
Abhishek Narayan Verma likes nightscapes – they have a stillness to them. The artist feels that the large dark areas in his drypoints allow the viewer to be intrigued, drawing them in to explore the less visible. This darkness creates a jarring contrast to and pushes the characters out and highlights them. The landscapes he uses generally imply the grandness of the atmosphere, but he makes it dark in order to mystify it. It engulfs the figures within, and reflects their mental realm.
